Major Rain and Wind warnings have been issued with a Purple Weather Warning by the LWFS as expected winds reach hurricane force with winds of 80mph and gusts up to 110mph between 18:00 and 06:30 LMT tomorrow night. All physical Leaflandic Services have been stopped and the government has said it will “… shutdown during this time,” as citizens are asked to not go outdoors and shelter. These stormy conditions come from Storm Goretti, which will affect Southern England, Northern France and the Channel Islands in the middle. Schools have not been closed as the worst is said to happen after school hours, though, many after-school activities have been cancelled including Cadet Services and Youth Clubs. The President released a statement saying “Stay safe tonight. Please listen to your local authorities as it could mean a night at the hospital if you don’t.”
A local resident spoke to us in an interview, saying “The storm won’t do much, a few trees over and that’s probably the worst damage.” However the LWFS still says the storm will bring major damage and will be a danger-to-life.
